Introduction

Summary
Facing the escalating threats of extreme climate conditions on global food security, especially in regions plagued by degraded land and unequal water distribution, our team has innovated the "System of Probiotic Rice Intensification (SPRI)." This system merges advanced water-saving irrigation with probiotic enhancements, aiming at sustainable rice cultivation. As energy and material costs rise, stabilizing food production becomes a global imperative. SPRI offers a solution by significantly reducing rice cultivation's carbon footprint, thus contributing to the global goal of carbon neutrality. SPRI stands as a pivotal advancement in aligning ecological conservation with economic growth, particularly within agriculture. By minimizing the reliance on traditional agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers and pesticides, it notably diminishes their environmental impact while simultaneously enhancing the health of soil and aquatic ecosystems. These efforts are crucial in strengthening food resilience, supporting Taiwan's vision of a carbon-neutral agricultural sector by 2040. The SPRI technology focuses on reducing water consumption and carbon emissions through innovative irrigation methods tailored for rice cultivation. This approach is in line with achieving net-zero carbon emissions, presenting an efficient farming model that requires fewer resources—water, fertilizers, pesticides, greenhouse gases, and labor.
Application Benefits:
.SPRI can cut rice field carbon emissions by roughly 60-70% and irrigation water usage by more than 30%.
.It incorporates soil probiotics and organic fertilizers, enhancing soil microbial diversity for a healthier ecosystem. This leads to reduced fertilization needs, cutting down on labor costs.
.By employing intercropping and carbon-reduction techniques, SPRI attracts international corporate clients keen on improving their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) impact.
.The reduction in pesticide usage aligns with environmentally friendly farming practices, emphasizing SPRI's commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
