In order to jointly promote the transition towards net zero cities globally, the Kaohsiung City Government has launched a "Global Call for Solutions: Green Transitions for Industrial Cities", inviting international professionals/teams to propose innovative, scalable solutions. This has attracted cross-sectoral net zero professional teams from 27 cities in 24 countries to submit proposals for sustainable energy, green living, and urban resilience. Following a rigorous evaluation of all submissions, the winners were selected by a global panel of influential climate leaders, academics and practitioners: ICLEI KCC, Gartner, Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES), etc. Congratulations to the 15 proposals selected as winners in three categories that recognize the best urban initiatives led by public and private partners that accelerate sustainable energy, promote green living, strengthen urban resilience, showcase innovative climate solutions, and demonstrate how to build climate movements in cities.

The shortlisted teams hail from 12 countries, including Austria, Denmark, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea etc. They integrate smart technology with sustainable development principles, presenting intelligent and innovative solutions in sustainable water resource management, circular economy, air purification, green transportation, and carbon capture.

Conducting this "Global Call for Solutions: Green Transitions for Industrial Cities" represents a new starting point for Kaohsiung to cooperate globally towards the 2050 net zero emissions goal. The exciting proposals from zero-emission experts worldwide will serve as crucial references for transforming industrial cities towards a zero-emission lifestyle.

Outstanding proposals in each category will be invited to showcase their achievements to the world at the 2024 City Climate Summit (City COP) and the Kaohsiung Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE). In addition, the team will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Kaohsiung City Government to implement the solution in Kaohsiung City.
